The QuickBooks Get Connected London 2024 event took place in February this year, a dynamic gathering of accounting and bookkeeping professionals. Held at Woolwich Works, London, the event provided a platform for attendees to explore exciting product updates, gain expert insights, and connect with like-minded peers.

QuickBooks shared updates on a raft of new product features as well as its vision for AI and more. Key highlights included:

Pro Tax: QuickBooks confirmed that FRS 102 and personal tax filing tools will be available later this year. Accountant users of QuickBooks Online will soon have enhanced capabilities, allowing them to seamlessly manage their clients' accounting data within the platform. This includes making necessary adjustments in the Workpapers section and effortlessly transferring the data to the Pro Tax tool for FRS 102 and personal tax filing.

Practice Manager:  As workloads increase and accountants are stretched thin, QuickBooks Practice Manager (QBPM) is changing the game by managing projects, tasks, and clients across your firm. The new benefits include the ability to centralise client records, manage client interactions, automate recurring tasks, streamline workflows, increase consistency across operating procedures, and manage workload across your team.

Another feature added into the mix is Business Overview, which enables the syncing of bookeeping and financial data. Clients will be able to see information like common errors, the number of transactions received across different types, Profit & Loss (P&L), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Accounts Payable (A/P).

Artifical Intelligence: AI is foundational to QuickBooks’ vision. It is set to transform the platform from a financial toolbox to a personal assistant - reducing the admin burden but leaving the final decision with the finance professional. QuickBooks will no longer just help accountants with a task, instead, it wants them to be able to use the platform to stretch what they thought possible. It has already added features such as anomaly detection, error identification, income tax estimations, and bank transaction categorisation through its Train QB tool.

Bureau Payroll: QuickBooks has announced the launch of Bureau Payroll, a standalone, full-cloud solution built for UK accountants and bookkeepers with diverse client needs. Accountants face the challenge of both balancing work efficiently whilst also maintaining payroll accuracy and compliance. Having listened to user feedback, QuickBooks has innovated to provide accountants with:

  • Automation: Streamlined workflows with automated payruns, pension and RTI submissions, tax code updates and more.
  •  Integration with clients’ accounting software: Post journals to any integrated software (such as Xero, Sage, FreshBooks and more) while running payroll from a single, consolidated dashboard.
  • Fixed fee structure: Predictable pricing that scales in line with their business, with fixed, transparent fees based on the number of payroll clients, regardless of how many employees they have on payroll.

In summary, the QuickBooks Get Connected London 2024 event served as a dynamic hub of innovation, knowledge exchange, and community building. Attendees left with fresh perspectives and tangible strategies to apply to their own businesses.
