Auto Enrolment has well and truly evolved over the last five years. This year, we will see the largest number of employers going through their employer duties. Many businesses have also started to go through automatic re-enrolment. After the 1st October, new employers will not have a staging date but a duties start date. Small employers are using HMRC’s Basic PAYE tools to process their payroll which will not cater to the requirements of auto enrolment. With all these changes happening, payroll bureaus need to be aware of what they need to do and when they need to do it.

BrightPay has teamed up with Aviva, Workplace Pensions Direct and Pension PlayPen to run a series of auto enrolment webinars to help payroll bureaus understand the future of Auto Enrolment. The webinars are completely free to attend.

13th Sept: New Employers & their Auto Enrolment Obligations

If your client becomes a new employer after the 1st October, they will not have a staging date. Their auto enrolment duties will apply from the first date that the first employee starts to work for your client, which is known as their duties start date. Worryingly, according to research conducted by The Pensions Regulator (TPR), 49%, almost half of accountants asked did not know that new employers would have AE duties.

26th Sept: Helping Basic PAYE tool users with Auto Enrolment

This free webinar is designed to help payroll advisers whose clients use HMRC’s Basic PAYE Tools (BPT). Recent research by The Pensions Regulator details that the majority of small and micro employers do want to comply with automatic enrolment (AE). However, further findings state that smaller employers (including those using Basic PAYE Tools) are more likely to leave their AE duties to the last minute.
