Ten years have passed since AccountingWEB last surveyed the new firm landscape. Back then The Class of 2009 came out of the ashes of the financial crisis. Accountancy firms had scaled back their recruitment and training programmes. But new technology empowered these accountants to go it alone.

At that point the profession was just beginning to explore the cloud. Since then, online accounting has gone mainstream. So what is the big trend inspiring 2019’s new firms?

To discuss these game-changing trends such as fintech and social media, host Richard Hattersley is joined by a new generation of start-up practices. Let us introduce you to the Class of 2019:

To help guide and mentor the new firms, we also welcome back friend of the pod and Class of 2009 alumni Della Hudson to reflect on the challenges she faced and how things have changed ten years on.

So how are Class of 2019 coping with the challenges of getting a new firm off the ground? What are the opportunities available for those looking to take the new firm leap in 2019? And just how difficult is it picking a name for your firm? All this and more is discussed on this week's No Accounting for Taste.

Stay tuned to AccountingWEB over the coming weeks to find out more on our Class of 2019.
