HMRC's Making Tax Digital pilot scheme went live on Monday 3 April, with a handful of agents joining the project's earliest phase.
Gary Jacobs, managing director of Eazitax, was the first practioner to join the pilot and the AccountingWEB podcast caught up with him to ask how things were panning out so far.
Also, while the rest of the country was gripped with election fever, the immediate thoughts of many of our readers fell to how this may affect the government’s digital taxation plans.
The decision to hold the vote in June has cast doubt on whole swathes of legislation, including those affecting the Making Tax Digital programme.
Joining the AccountingWEB podcast on the campaign trail to tackle these issues are a trio of big beasts – of the intellectual sort of course: Rebecca Cave is consulting tax editor for AccountingWEB; Mark Purdue is Product Manager - Tax Products at Thomson Reuters; and making his pod debut is Xero’s managing director Gary Turner.
The Making Tax Digital podcast is recorded on a monthly basis. If you have any burning questions you can ask them in the comments box below and our panel will do their best to answer them next time around.
