Gary Jacobs

Director
Eazitax Ltd

"My name is Gary, it was by complete accident that I got into accounting, I was a young insurance broker that wanted to get more involved in how my clients ran their business, and worked with an accountant to add tax products to our range. I started to work with him, I studied at night school and then it just kind of took over. And now here I am in my weird niche practice.

The most rewarding part of being an accountant is getting to fix stuff. Being able to use my experience to help companies grow, succeed and maximise profit. Being able to work with great people in great businesses, it energises me.
The accounting community - like any family, we are diverse in our behaviours, we have great innovation sitting next to the worst of change resistance, we have the most inspiring people represented their clients interest and the most detached, but we all need to share our struggle.

Over the years I’ve been inspired by Mao Tse Tung, Ghandi, Shaka Zulu, Darth Vader, my dog Ted. My biggest challenge is to inspire clients to do more than throw some numbers at us once (four times) a year and to engage directly with businesses to innovate and build to share and engage. My proudest achievement and my (second) love, my hobby, my obsession, the font of all pleasure and pain, my founding and growing of The Eazitax Group.

And I also brought up two great kids amongst it all. The photo was taken at ArcelorMittal Orbit in Stratford after I had just abseiled down it with my daughter. I’m 54, I should have just bought a sports car!"
