AccountingWEB.co.uk and Boreas Partnership (UK) Ltd are offering two lucky members the opportunity to attend the Professionals Development Academy, a programme of workshops designed to help you develop yours and your staffs’ soft skills and drive your business through the tough times.

Now more than ever, differentiating your firm from the competition is becoming increasingly important. You and your staff may already have all the technical skills you need as accountants, but do you have the soft skills required to attract and retain new clients in an increasingly tough business environment? Do you and your staff have the soft skills to improve efficiencies within your business and create greater levels of profit?

The Professionals Development Academy (PDA) is a series of four workshops lasting a day each that will take place over a six month period at venues across the country. The programme aims to introduce accountants to essential skills they can adapt to their working interactions with colleagues, clients and third parties (such as banks, solicitors, HMRC etc.).

Course content
Delegates will be encouraged to actively participate in activities that will cover a number of core themes including:

  • Time management and delegation skills to prioritise and achieve set objectives.
  • Effective communication – active listening and questioning techniques.
  • Assertiveness to succeed in both internal and external negotiations.
  • Effective business networking to develop new relationships.
  • Presentations to promote your business ideas.
  • Client management skills to retain and expand revenue streams.
  • Essential staff management techniques.

The first session includes a psychometric assessment of the delegates, and each person will receive their own personalised feedback report to help them understand which areas should be focused on to support their development and learning style.

Following each day’s attendance at PDA, delegates will be set practical, work-based tasks to develop and build on the skills covered. These results will be fed back to the partners/directors of the delegates’ firms, who will be invited to review their performance. The programme offers firms a measurable return on their investment, while delegates receive focused and tailored learning support to aid their personal and professional development.
