Mercer & Hole's website was rated fourth in a survey of the websites of the top 50 accountants in the UK.

Undertaken by independent design and consultancy firm, Intendance, the survey assessed the sites on their content, usability and design. Mercer & Hole's site scored 83.4% and was praised for its "easy to find information " and fast navigation. The latest Intendance study confirmed the firm's ranking as the top site in a similar study of the accountancy websites of the top 100 firms.

Intendance commented, 'In addition to the firm's News Room, multiple calculators, numerous useful links and quarterly bulletins in their Publications section, their 'Online Resources' offers an array of valuable information on many issues from starting a business to IR35 and company searches.'

Mercer & Hole senior partner Howard Wilkinson said: 'We are constantly trying to develop and enhance our website and so I'm delighted that it has been recognised. The site is an important part of our marketing plans for the future and we will continue to expand it in anticipation of businesses' and individuals' requirements.

To help expand its reach, Mercer & Hole has recently added French, German and Spanish versions of the site.

One of the reasons Mercer & Hole is able to maintain such a dynamic site and roll out new features is because the infrastructure is provided by accountancy website specialist PracticeWEB, which allows the firm to concentrate on their marketing and client information rather than the technical issues.

PracticeWEB managing director Mark Lloydbottom congratulated his client: 'To beat all of the 'Big Four' in such an important survey is phenomenal, and I salute Mercer & Hole's amazing progress since 2003.

'Every client is unique and deserves a unique service. Our philosophy is to put our clients first - to understand their situation and provide a first class service tailored to their specific needs. Because we establish a one-to-one relationship with each client we are able to offer timely, individual advice of a high quality and make their websites really work,' said Lloydbottom.

PracticeWEB is a joint venture between Numerica and Sift, the company behind AccountingWEB, with which it shares many technical characteristics. For more information about PracticeWEB, visit Alternatively email Mark Tovey, or ring on 0117 915 9614.
