We caught up with the team from UHY Hacker Young (East) who have entered and made this year’s Top 5 for Specialist Team of the Year.
What does it mean to you to be one of the Accounting Excellence Top 5 firms in the Specialist Team of the Year category this year?
The Recruitment Accountants team have worked extremely hard to build a reputation as experts in the recruitment sector and deliver a service that’s paramount to the success of a recruitment business. Therefore it’s very rewarding to be recognised by our peers and be shortlisted for Specialist Team of the Year.
What achievement in the last year are you most proud of?
We are always striving to provide the best service to our clients, whether this is looking at innovative ways of improving the efficiency and capabilities of our service using technology, or by working closely with our clients to truly understand their business and the opportunities available to them. In recent months we have designed bespoke board packs covering key financial and non-financial metrics for our clients in one simple to use online dashboard. This provides business owners with a visual overview of their business, highlighting what areas require more focus. This tool accompanied with our sector expertise has helped many of our clients drive their business forward.
What are you going to be focusing on in the next 12 months?
As the accountancy industry continues to evolve, the impact of technology is affecting the types of services we can offer our clients. Sector expertise is imperative due to the focus shifting from compliance based services to advisory. Over the next 12 months we are looking to develop our advisory service and enhance our KPI reporting tool to include benchmark data from a cross section of recruitment businesses within the sector.
What would be your top tip/tips for firms aspiring to achieve excellence in the profession?
To achieve excellence in this area it is essential to have a true understanding of the structures and processes that are crucial in a recruitment business, real insight into the opportunities and threats in the marketplace, as well as a comprehensive view of the legislative environment in which recruitment businesses trade.
