The nine contenders for this year’s Practice Excellence Awards have been unveiled.

Nearly 140 firms took part in AccountingWEB’s annual Practice Excellence Programme and the top performing small, medium and large firms have been narrowed down to just three firms for each category.

Now it’s the turn of AccountingWEB members to decide which of the following deserve AccountingWEB’s 2013 Practice Excellence Awards for small, medium and large firms:

Small firm nominees (1-2 partners)

  • Atkinsons
  • Coalesco Certified Accountants
  • Murray Associates

Medium firm nominees (3-7 partners)

  • CGA
  • Rickaby & Co
  • Seymour Taylor

Large firm nominees (8+ partners)

  • Hillier Hopkins
  • Milsted Langdon
  • Rouse Partners

Members are allowed one vote per category, and should base their decision not just on how well the firms serve their clients (which has been assessed in an independent, online survey), but also on how they have adapted their services and approach over the past year to meet changing client needs.

Almost without exception, the nominated firms have concentrated on delivering more business advisory services. Their average ratings for clients’ willingness to recommend the firm to friends and acquaintances averages 9 out of 10 and numerous clients volunteered testimonials for the firm’s professional skills, quick responses and personal service.

The awards are the final element of the wider Practice Excellence Programme, which starts with an independent online survey of participating firms’ clients. Those who take part in the Practice Excellence Survey get to see their own results, with the option of further benchmark reports, extended commentary and full client feedback.

The top 10 performers in each category were then invited to enter the Practice Excellence Awards, in which their submissions, satisfaction scores and client feedback were assessed by expert judges to compile shortlists of three firms per category.

AVN founder Steve Pipe, who helped judge the small firm category, lent his support to the Practice Excellence Awards as a way to encourage all accountancy firms to learn and benefit from what the nominees and shortlisted firms were doing.

“I’m pleased for all the nominees,” said Pipe. “Identifying truly inspirational firms will give other firms the courage and ability to push their firms to new levels of client service and results.”

Cast your votes now to help choose the 2013 Practice Excellence Awards winners.

The results will be announced at an event with sponsors and nominees in London on 3 October.
