AccountingWEB’s commitment to continuous improvement within the accounting profession takes another step forward today with the launch of our expanded Practice Excellence Programme.

In a new innovation for 2013, we are partnering with customer service specialist Smith & Henderson to make free client satisfaction data available to every participating firm.

“Now in its fourth year, our successful Practice Excellence Programme is driven by the principle that good client service drives growth and profitability.  But you need to measure and communicate it,” said AccountingWEB publisher Andy North.

“That’s why this year we’re making the programme free to any firm that wants to take part. With Smith & Henderson supplying know-how and technical support, we aim to build up a unique and valuable database against which UK firms can compare their own results and evaluate where they can improve,” he wrote in a recent blog outlining the 2013 Practice Excellence Programme.

Feedback from participants in previous years confirmed that the client satisfaction survey was the most important element of the Practice Excellence Awards, because it gave smaller firms access to comparative client approval data that was previously the domain of top fifty firms.

Large, medium and small accountancy practices can now sign up for a free client satisfaction check. Participating firms will be sent a personalised online survey that they distribute to their clients, with the feedback collected and analysed independently by the Practice Excellence team.

The basic results will be distributed free to all those who take part.

For an extra £249, firms can get an upgraded benchmarking report containing direct comments from their clients and a detailed analysis of their market sector along with indicative data of how their rating compares with similar-sized firms.

The 10 top performing firms in each category will also be invited to take part in our annual Practice Excellence Awards. This process will remain unchanged: short, written submissions are assessed by a panel of expert judges in each category, and shortlists of three per category are put forward for a vote by their peers on AccountingWEB.

Alan Woods, a winner of the small firm Practice Excellence Award in 2011 commented: “We found the whole process of entering the awards fantastic, and not just because we actually won. It was great to get the benchmark report at the end of the process and great to read what our clients thought about us as a firm too.”

Visit the Practice Excellence website to find out more and sign up for your free client satisfaction report.

Practice Excellence Client Survey

As a winner of the Medium Sized Firm Practice Excellence Award in 2012 we found the feedback from almost 50 of our clients who were surveyed to be invaluable confirming what they valued from our services and in addition it was a fantastic boost to our staff and customer relationship managers who were inspired to do even more of the right things for our clients and add even more value. We have since tracked the new clients that we have attracted to the firm as a direct result of the award which currently stands at over £60,000.

Legal requirement to keep books and records

How long do you have to keep Purchase and Sales Orders for? Are they subject to the same time span as Main books and records?
