You're hired: Big Four plan UK recruitment drive

The Big Four accountancy firms plan to hire more than 13,000 in the UK over the next year to meet strong demand for their business advice.

After the Times revealed that Ernst & Young plans to hire 3,700 people in Britain, the other Big Four firms told Accounting WEB that they plan to hire about 9,500 new people in the UK over the next year or so.

PwC said it plans to hire more than 4,000 people by the end of June 2014, split evenly between experienced hires, and students, graduates and school leavers.  

Deloitte said it plans to hire around 3,200 people in its next financial year, which would be its fourth consecutive year that it as recruited more than 3000 people.

KPMG said that it expects to hire about 2,350 new people in in its coming financial year.

Ernst & Young Chairman Steve Varley told the Times the firm has seen a "huge reduction" in the number of businesses looking to cut costs, and more looking instead to take on the risks associated with growth.
