How About

How about sharing 10 reasons why it's rotten to be an accountant. My son is considering accountancy as a career, this might balance the conversation. But otherwise very enlightening, thanks.

Reminds me of a SWOT analysis...

when you give thought to your firm's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats and suddenly find that 10 or so of the plusses are matched with the same number of minuses, and many with just one heading, eg clients and more/less family time.

airgeadagam - tell your son that, as in most things in life, accountancy is made up of loads of debits & credits but, at the end of the day, they should balance.  Rest assured, accountancy is  not special, it's what you make it.

An accountant is not only a member of the maths genii community, s/he can be a person even without a degree. And it's a perfect way to start entrepreneurship too.
