1. Current job title

Head of Reward Consulting, Chiltern plc

2. Describe your initial training within the profession

I qualified in 1989 and worked initially in corporate tax specialising fairly rapidly in employee benefits and reward. I moved to KPMG in 1994 as one of the founding members of their share incentive team.

3. What positions have you held?

I was the lead partner for the Share Scheme Group at KPMG and I now lead the Reward Consulting Group at Chiltern plc

4. What advice would you give to someone thinking of entering the profession?

Never underestimate the power of persistence ' being prepared to redouble your efforts whether on technical issues or on client service will distinguish you and your practice

5. Is there a significant event you can tell us about which had an impact on your career?

I was privileged to go a secondment with the Inland Revenue in 2000 to advise and assist their Share Scheme team. This gave me an insight into the legislative procedures, the workings of the Inland Revenue and the processes for achieving change. This has proved to be powerful in advising clients and achieving pragmatic, commercial solutions.

6. What is your overall view of the finance industry and the people in it?

There are some highly talented people ' and characteristically they have an endearingly down-to-earth, can-do attitude!

7. Who most inspired you to get where you are today?

I've always had a lot of faith in myself having grown up with the maxim 'Do your best' ! It is amazing how far it can take you! However, I have had some great role models: Ruth Anderson and Leslie Ferrar at KPMG. I also admire the achievements of Belinda Earl and Barbara Thomas.

8. What has been your greatest achievement?

Keeping all the plates spinning with two small children and a busy career!
