Where to now for Rangers
SFA have this evening refused Rangers appeal against sanctions imposed on the Club by way of signing over 18 y.o players for 12 months and the £160,000 fine.
If a newco was formed, would the above be null and void as the sanctions were against the Company and not the team?
I suppose if the company was re-formed as a newco with the simple addition of The Rangers (1873) Football Club plc, the team would retain its identity and history as it was formed in 1873.

73% of partners think Accounts are fundamentally flawed...
Not surprising, really, considering that for a Partner, adding the company signature is virtually the only connection he/she may have had with their production, but the Customer will never know that and will keep on thinking not only that the Senior Partner deals with HIS very important and personal business Accounts, but actually deals with them personally too!
As for the two Accountants sharing the 9:1 ratio in the same town, there are Golf Club 19th holes like that up here too, but with the rise in duty and vat, they no longer drink pints or shorts, as they now only have the price of a tee! But inflation does not really affect their stories although some do get blown up out of all proportion!
Fish Farmer to other Fish Farmer in club-house: Seals are bad this year and affecting our stocks. How's yours going?
2nd Fish Farmer: Same problem, here, also Otters.
1st Fish Farmer: Fancy going Clubbing later?

When does a Goodwill Gesture Offer choices?
The Seller of the Policy would have received Commission as normal on all such policies. He could have kept it - as normal Instead he wishes to recempense his friend for all the business he has given him over the years - pefectly laudable. But then he, to my mind, makes the mistake of offering a choice. A ggodwill gesture, it can be argued is one wher there was no expectaion by the recipeient that such a gesture was forthcoming. Where one is givena choice in how to accept a backhander, it would seems to be more ceonnected to a bsuiness arrangement. presumably the donor has to account for the debit of this commission somewhere in his own Accounts?
Does he bank it and issues a personal cheque to his friend? To do with as he likes, even if it is to take him back out to lunch to thank him for his unsuspected "gift"?
On the other hand, is really so different, apart fom that it may be financial, from any Insurance Co. advertising for people to sign up and in return get a Camera, a DVD Player or one of the zillions of vouchers that M& S must issue annually?

Congratulations, Auld Yin!
Good to know that there is still some lead in the old pencil despite using it for so many Spreadsheets!
And all this after you tut-tutting about AJ's hem-line at the year end stocktake!
No doubt, you will need lots of advice to keep two incomes flowing and here is a link to get your started.
We wish you both all the nappiness to come.

Whoops! I've done it again!
Research conducted by Tax Research, owned and managed by Richard Murphy, results published by TJN, whose policy adviser is ....guess who? Richard Murphy!
What did you expect to be published? "Naw, after substantial investments and worldwide research, we have concluded that it is impossible to guesstimate, whether half wrong or half right, just how much wealth is salted away offshore."
Somehow it does not carry the same headline "shock new figure" power and using both the Catholic and Anglican Church and Christian Aid, all of whom are not short of a bob or two themselves as accomplices to publicize what is at best and at worst an irrefutable study, what is the use of it? How much wealth is salted away in the Vatican that could be given to charities if the thrust of the research is to highlight how charities could benefit if this "wealth" was in any way
Who is going to put the counter argument? How many of these rich individuals actually own trillions of $ in not only offshore but sub-sea oil? How much of that was taken into the equation? Are these guys going to leave tracks for HM Govt to tax them? I think not!
So we are left with self-publicity and a worthless unproveable exercise!
Once again, Richard has shown he is looking for a Govt tax advisory position in the near future.

The Only Obvious Answer...!
The govt will rename the Gateway "Media Gates-way" and all Tax Inspectors/Officers/humble Clerks and tealadies will take delivery of a brand new Microsoft Media Center, so that they can control Corporation Tax, PAYE, SA, and VAT all with one remote!
Just imagine the Contracts for new software companies, Learn Direct et all, and they could all be funded by an in-grant that no one knows is being claimed or not, through R&D Tax Credit!
No wonder Mr Brown loves the tax credit system. If the majority of claimants, who, in reality may actually depend on such income, are put off by the baffling bamboozlement of the paperwork, he is quids in, compared to giving every taxpayer a decent rise in either personal allowance or broadening the starting rate of tax.
Does any audit get carried out of the Tax Credits system? How many people gave up on it? Does the legislation ACTUALLY say, that it must be claimed within 3 months of year-end or is this the Revenue interpretation, to suit their workload? I have never been able to find an answer to that.
Maybe I need a Media Center machine too!

Budget! My Granny!
GB's insistene on tinkering withthe minutiae of vague tax credits/duties etc remind me of my Granny with her darning needle mending holes in socks! He may as well have given every pensioner in the country a free pair of socks with VOTE LABOUR written along the calf!
Mind you, if you are aged 70+, on Viagra[***], with a penchant for breeding all over again, and you girl-friend/mother-to-be resides locally, you will be able to live in your own house like a Lord, free TV, with free off-peak local bus travel, £200 off your Council Tax,for a year at least, £300 heating allowance, enhanced MCA and guaranteed Childcare placements 80% paid for by GB, Child Bonus Bonds, set up with a free bonus of £250, or £500 if really poor.
With all these carrots/savings, you can afford to move out of your delapidated villa in Derby for the cost of a sellers survey, and no Stamp Duty and move into one of these longstay hospital places free of charge, to regain your energy, whilst still drawing full pension.
When your kids are 5 they will be able to enrol in a brand new primary school, built and paid for under PFI, with a headteacher with a personal school budget of £16000 or thereby for essential school computers, which your kids can lease, not borrow, off the education authority to do their homework.
If they turn out to be numpties, and are basically, unemployable, any introduction to a job, however short lived, can be funded by a £2000 signing on fee, having spent the grant of £20/week earnestly seeking a job beforehand.
On the other hand, they could all join the forces, where no questions are asked on costs of defence spending. Let's face it, if we build all these tanks and planes and ammo, we need to have a war/skirmish overseas regularly to use them up, otherwise our defence industry will stagnate. We cant sell them all to India and Syria on the never-never.

I do hope Mr Brown will tackle the obscene profits made by Banks such as RBof S and HSBC in his forthcoming budget.
The results make good headlines, but it is the ordinary punter that pays for it through increased charges. I dont believe for a minute that the majority of these profits came from exchange gains in overseas daughter companies in either group, but then who is going to challenge the veracity of what is published?

Well on the way to Recovery...
When you notice as woman's hemline, receding or not in front of your eyes, the bug must be well on its way out! You almost sounded like a normal red-blooded male, so you must be well on the way. I hope she doesnt have to bend down too often at the stock-take, o/w you may have a spate of industrial accidents to deal with next week!
