Just to say that's very kind of whichever client of ours who left those comments. I would just add that the bulk of our payrolls are much smaller than 50 employees, so presumably we're cost-effective even on on the one man payrolls we do for our accountant partners!
Beyond silly? I don't believe so nor do my many sole practitioner clients who find the time spent chasing clients, answering their queries, and dealing with HMRC to be something they would rather not spend time on. It also permits them to offer a weekly payroll service which would otherwise be too demaning for them to consider.
As you say, this is a site for providing good and impartial advice. Many well-informed people, such as 2020 among others, believe outsourcing is a valid and effective strategy. My point is simply there is an alternative worth considering. Interestingly the vast majority of the payrolls we process for our partners are small clients which seems to suggest that my suggestion is far from silly. Outsourcing is not for everyone, but it is an excellent way of freeing up time for more valuable work such as finding new clients.
