Overall tax software follows the rules and calculations set out by HMRC. Whilst building NI into the tax return will be a new section for us to worry about, software such as TaxCalc will be able to handle this change fairly seamlessly. Validations will be incorporated to ensure the maximum limits are not exceeded.
Here at TaxCalc we have been reading the recent technology articles and comments with interest; Accounting Web delivers Software providers such as ourselves with a great source of information.
Whilst this strays into a sales pitch I wanted to provide details regarding Taxcalc's price structure, since a request for this has been made. You can mix and match modules and types of tax returns depending on your client base to ensure you have the integrated suite you require at an affordable price - we haven’t increased our prices for over 3 years. All prices are available on our website, where you can also download a trial to use for 28 days.
All TaxCalc products include two concurrent users, no extra charge for a network licence, unlimited free UK-based support and free updates for the life of your licence and Practice Management is included at no extra cost. Further users are available at £50 + VAT.

I'm glad to hear you like TaxCalc Accounts Production. Whilst it is not yet possible to import a TB, we will be adding this before the end of the year.
Please PM me if there are any other features you would like to see included.
Today was the first time I watched the Budget from start to finish live, in the past i have had the luxury of reading commentary over the days following the Budget absorbing the information slowly.
From a tax software perspective I always hope there are no instant changes or anything big that creates the need to recode all the calculations in the software.
Thankfully this year was one of those where we can let out a sigh of relief and carry on preparing taxCalc for the imminent start of the new tax year. We will however build all the announced changes into our Value Added Tool, for our customers to start thinking about the next tax year using the WhatIf planner.
The news regarding the personal allowance increase to £10,000 wasn't a surprise however it was great to hear it will be applied to 2014-15, earlier than expected.
The decrease to 20% for the main rate of corporation tax making it the same as small companies simplifies tax for all corporations, removing marginal relief.
When producing CT600s within tax software the calculations will still be performed for you - its going to make our job easier in the future when writing software - and the figures will be easier to understand especially for the non accountants.
