I'm a bit puzzled at AccSec's comment about features in CCH that BTCSoftware don't offer, as I'm not seeing anything in the orginal question that we don't include. True our software does not cover Time & Fees but you've not actually mentioned that. We do cover all the available online tax requirements as well as Companies House filing and would be delighted if you would take up a free trial.
As you will see from the above there are a range of options open to you. However I'm afraid BigBadWolf's suggestion of Dropbox is best avoided. It may work fine for simple file sharing but not for any system like PM Solution with a central database.
Good luck with your search - I hope you find an appropriate solution.
BTCSoftware links well with VT for populationof both SA, CT & Companies House filing. But don't just take my word for it. Take a look at the following.
PM Solution will file either the abbreviated or full accounts online to Companies House, although we find most users seem to prefer to attach the latter. Of course you will need to have set up a Companies House credit account for the purpose. You will find more on this here http://tinyurl.com/6cwnqos
Please call or email me if you have any more questions.
I am sorry to learn you are less than completely satisfied with the response of our support team. We work to a strict deadlines of responding to all support requests within 3 hours so this is clearly not good enough - however unimportant the issue. If you would like to call me on 0800 612 7650 or email me at [email protected] I will respond immediately.
At BTCSoftware we developed PM Solution specifically so that SME practitioners could do all this kind of stuff, and - to judge by our users' comments on your other thread - seem to be doing something right. Not an online solution as yet though!
I hope you'll take the opportunity to do free trial. During this our Suppport team will assist you just as if you were a paid up user.
Plenty of accountants I speak to are reaping considerable benefit from informed use of social media, but you won't know if it's for you until you try and you must not only have a strategy but be prepared to commit some time and effort. Nor should you expect instant results.
I would also seek out the advice of someone in the know. One such is Stephen Paul who has had so much success using it for his own practice that he now also runs a specialist social media consultancy aimed specifically at accountants, Social Media-NE Ltd
To avoid this very problem BTCSoftware's CT Solutions issue the following warning: “You have selected to attach an accounts file in PDF format. From April 1st 2011, unless there is a very good reason, accounts must be filed in iXBRL format.. If you continue to file the PDF accounts they must contain an acceptable explanation as to why you cannot file iXBRL accounts. Further, HMRC may reject this return post submission resulting in a penalty. Do you wish to continue with this submission at your own risk?"

PS
Sorry MissAccounting,
When I said "latter" I actually meant "former" as most attach the abbreviated version.

Social Media - definitely worth exploring
