Many thanks for this. I was having the same problem - online form not accepting the code as given by HMRC and telephone number not working. Tried your 222 method and form accepted. Thanks again

We've had excellent service from Clearwave http://www.clearwave-es.com/affinity-desktop/ I was unsure about the move to remote desktop but Clearwave nursed us through it and offer great support.

HMRC Flooding: tax helpline
I rang them and they said the number is for individuals. I asked for an agent helpline number and they replied they'd had a meeting about it and the advice is each individual client should ring the helpline. I thought they were trying to reduce the amount of admin?

No news at the moment
I think the outcome is still awaited. The consultation period ended and the report on responses to that consultation was published on 2 March 2012 and can be found here http://www.bis.gov.uk/assets/biscore/business-law/docs/a/12-609-audit-exemptions-accounting-framework-summary-responses.pdf
Under next steps it states any "draft legislation" would be published "in the Spring". It doesn't say which Spring!! Think it's been kicked into the long grass.
