Even when there are no changes to the numbers there are changes to accounting policies (additional needed) and also statements that there are no changes and reconciliations (even where there are no reconciling items) - and you don't have to change the names of the P&L and Balance Sheet !!

The horse is in fact a racehorse.
The company has no intention of moving towards a racehorse trade.
I am unsure whether the director is a horse racing fan but would perhaps guess so as what therefore is the purpose of the purchase.

My soon to be 20 year old daughter has requested a filofax for her birthday tomorrow. She spends all her spare time using her various technology but now that she has started work feels she needs to be able to jot things down so I'd say they're not out of favour at all. For me I actually use both but if it's not in my paper diary it's not happening!!

Benefit in kind...
You can pay yourself a higher amount but the difference between that and 45p will be a benefit in kind to be decalred on your P11d

HMRC Benchmark Scale Rates
£30 is way too generous!! Have a look on HMRC's website , type in 'benchmark scale rates' and you'll find what they consider reasonable which isn't too far off the mark and covers various situations... I'd pop the link in but don't know how to!!
Then worth applying for a dispensation and then paying the benchmark rates will also be tax free!!

The accountants in question are definitely ICAEW.
I asked the client to get them to contact me in both the initial conversation we had and I also wrote to him last month and asked the same thing as theoretically I'm still the accountant responsible for helping him file his 2012 return and don't want the fact I haven't done it to backfire on me!!!

Go for 'any other activity not listed elsewhere' which is 12% (obviously 1% discount in the first year)
