It may be age discrimination but it will be for a very short period and the benefits to the whole economy and the mental health of elderly people massively outweigh the short term discrimination.

I have had a similar situation in the past. The client did complaint to the ICAEW and I then had to spend many hours providing evidence against every point of the complaint before the investigating officer accepted that it was just a malicious complaint from a client that wanted to avoid paying fees and maybe getting some compensation as well.

It has been a while since I tried to use Linux. It worked but I had issues with certain hardware as some printers did not work, some wireless keyboards and mice also had issues, etc.
The closest to a Linux system that is simple, easy and cheap browser based system that I have been using regularly is actually a Chrome Book. It just works and, as we have a Remote Desktop server set up in the office, I could log on to that for any legacy software.

It is very frustrating that they have a different set of rules to the rest of us. They blame COVID19 as the reason for the delays in processing correspondence or lack of replies but expect us to reply within 2 weeks if they raise any enquiries.

We are using Teams a lot more than Zoom for video calls internally and also externally as we find the quality of the sound and video noticeably better than Zoom. It needs to be set up properly by admin to make it easy to invite external people to video calls.
With most staff working from home, our audit teams have been using it to manage audits. For example, a junior would post a message on Teams when they complete the task, the senior would then review the work (via Caseware cloud) and feedback or give the next task. It makes it much easier to manage junior staff on audits involving teams of 6-7 people. The screen share function also helps in training the junior staff.

The current dwellings will be sold before the purchase of the new dwellings.

This has happened to me a couple of times last year. HMRC refused to send copy letters again so we did not know what additional information they required until we put in new applications. A lot of time was wasted unnecessarily.

Emailed enquiries which used to be answered within one day are taking about 2 weeks now!

I once dismissed an abusive client. She threatened to take legal action but, since she had no grounds, she did not proceed. She then made a a fictitious complaint to ICAEW. Although the complaint had no merit, I wasted many hours responding to investigation carried out by the Institute and it took many months for them to decide that the complaint should be dismissed.

We have tried this with HSBC but it seems that only an admin user can reconnect so having read only access will not work for HSBC. I do not know if other banks have similar issues.
