Thank you. However the previous Pay Period was dated 28th Feb so do I use that date or 29th Feb? It seems to be unfair to penalise the employer for the leap year.
Just to add another option, have you considered Digita?
I have experience with Iris and it is very good, however the cost is far too much for a small practice and the support is time consuming and costly too.
Keytime and Digita were the 2 main solutions that offered similar integrated features to Iris but without the price tag.
I looked at Keytime and thought (and heard) it was good, however Digita felt easier to use and follow. I find that Digita isn't the cheapest but it is worth every penny. I'm no whizz with computers and with their only being me I need support that will help me from start to finish if required. Digita have excellent customer support and I don't have to wait long or pay charges/extra for the call.
Like I said might be worth considering. Good Luck.
Yes I would agree on the point which adds what basis they used to generate those figures. Surely not everyone who has qualified as an accountant remains an accountant? People switch careers, become a house wife/husband or simply divert into a different business using their skills.
I agree with your last comment. Having previously worked in an Umbrella company I understand that they seek advice on schemes/payroll methods and these vary from low-high risk. It all depends on the agency and payroll companies as to which option they choose and of course fees and agency "rebates" are the main drive.
Some are good but some are rotten!
Thank you for your reply.
To clarify, it is wherever the business of the client (event organiser etc) is based that should dictate the place of supply?
Was this because they thought it was another "safeguard" sold to them by the Umbrella company??
It would also be interesting as to which Umbrella company (not that I am asking though!)
I have used Moneysoft for 5 years and it is brilliant.
PAYE and CIS all in one, giving one PAYE figure to pay and plenty of reports.
They have great support and are continuously updating the software to accommodate the pensions uploads.
I guess this depends on the size of your practice and your type of clients.
I have a small practice that I run solely. My clients are very grounded and friendly. I understand why they need my services and I appreciate the modern day reality of running a business along side life and families.
If a client is happy to use WhatsApp then so am I. Picture messages are usually costly and poor quality. WhatsApp is free and instant. The client doesn't have to post, drop off or scan/email a letter, instead they take a photo and click send. (Fair enough they can also send the photo by email on their phone but not everyone has email apps on their phone).
I appreciate that this would only be viable for smaller firms though, in which case the desktop/cloud text messaging systems are more efficient for that purpose.
I haven't had any issues but it doesn't surprise me. HMRC are constantly changing things here and there, I feel like it's a never ending scary jack-in-the-box every time I log on or do something.
I have noticed glitches on Companies House webfiling login though and when submitting abbreviated accounts.
I swear "they" are just trying to push us to our limits and pack in our careers. After all apparently we take "advantage" of our clients, was a rumour from HMRC when we argued that monthly returns would require more assistance from accountants and that it wouldn't help clients at all.

The price is great too!! I have no complaints.
I have noticed that I can actually type a question/reply without it stuttering and taking 5 minutes to type a few lines. Thanks AccountingWeb!
