thanks Cardigan, thats great to hear. I've even seen people re-purpose the customary white board with hand drawn columns and it works well.
The science around the team huddled around the board together is to promote team work and the sense of 'we're all in this together'. It also forces people to share what they're doing and what they need support with.
I've also used apps such as Appear.in and Zoom if you're working with an outsourced/remote team where you can share your screen and switch on the laptop camera, it's the next best thing to being there in person. Enjoy and let me know how you get on. Bobby.
A well written article and useful for accountants wanting to use cloud software for their charities clients. I'm unsure if you have used qbo since the release of our new basic charities report.
We've made a lot of progress in this area with QuickBooks Online and with the help of our accountant partners and I'm unsure if you have made your comparison with our desktop product without seeing our qbo charities specific features.
You're able to create as many funds you wish in QBO and you're able to generate the 'financial activities report' instead of a p&l and have it split by funds. We have also made changes to the terminology used in our balance sheet report too can also be split by funds in QBO and not have to edit or spend time deleting terms such as 'retained earnings'
We have a management report feature which allows you as the user to customise and add as many reports as you like with the commentary which is used to explain the performance of the charity for the board members. The purpose of these reports is to provide mgt info only, our partners will still need to use a stat accounts software to fully comply with charity SORP.
We have also now partnered with Taxfiler, a leading cloud based stat accounts and tax solution, I believe they get many requests from their accountants to build stat accounts for charities :) so let's hope we get greater selection in the year end software end too.
Please let me know if you would like to see these features in Greater detail and I'll be available to take you through them.
