Give e-learning a go I too had been resistent to the concept of e-learning. After failing to get very far with home study I always thought I needed the discipline of face-to-face courses to learn. However I discovered the ACCA had a free 35 minute course on their new CPD programme and I thought I would give it a go. I was stunned at how good it was, just like face to face but with a chance to rewind if you missed something, no problems with seeing the screen or hearing the text, refreshments of your choosing, no clicking pens from the bored soul behind you, ambient temperature to your liking, no driving an hour up the motorway and at a time to suit you. Two things missing that I would like from an e-course are the chance to query something, which may possibly be available as an email to course providers, and coursenotes, which presumably can be downloaded for other courses. I am already booked on distant courses for the rest of my CPD this year but will start looking into completing it by e-learning in the future. It may not be for everyone but it is certainly worth having a go.
My answers
pension
Am I correct that a mother's right to state pension 'years' is linked to her receiving child benefit?
If she elects to opt out of child benefit to save complications but doesn't work she could lose out later on, especially if her circumstances changed.
