"The UK Government provides support to people in certain times of need, by way of the state benefits system. Some benefits are taxable, but others are not. Importantly, tax credits are not taxable income and neither is universal credit".
I too use Moneysoft and recognise your issues. My own work around is to have Moneysoft loaded onto a lap top and take it with me. Not ideal, but has worked ok for the last three years since payroll became "paperless" for us.
Yes you can do it. I did it when I was 49, but that was 20 years ago. Would I do now? Probably not! As mrme89 says fees are on the way down.
If you do still feel the need to try it, you might do better than to approach a one man band accountancy practice to get some extra knowledge and then buy in as a partner with a view to running it on your own one day.

Thanks for replying.
Would you care to elaborate?
Me!
We have used Moneysoft for payroll for a number of years, really simple to use and we've had no problems.
Accounting software really depends on what you need from it and what your accountant is happy to produce your accounts from.
