And once you have one, remove the name / reference number and take a really good copy / save a pdf version that you can use in future - it is cheating but it works!

We have had problems on and off with CH the last week or so. They did have a banner saying they had intermittent problems although that has gone. I had a set rejected yesterday. Tried again later and it went through fine. Just another frustration to add to the list!

Yes, you can do this - don't be surprised if your next challenge is getting them to trace the payment and match it to the UTR once it is issued!

I don't think I would have offered half fees as things never quite end up being as simple as you hope but as you've already done that I would politely say:-
"having considered matters again, unfortunately I am unable to offer any further reduction. If you would like my assistance, then please provide all information by [date that suits you]"

I hadn't noticed this problem but had an issue where two previous submissions had been made but only one was showing. This made it almost impossible to submit the third with the correct tax payable.
