You don't have to type journals into VTT+. You can paste them from the clipboard by selecting: Transaction>Journal>Import and then select "Clipboard (eg copied from a spreadsheet)" in the "Import via:" box.
I thought you could still request to be a quarterly payer if you paid little enough tax and NI each month. By "registered" I just meant down in their records as being a quarterly payer, either automatically or by request.

I don't see how you can possibly do that for them. There is absolutely no reason at all to do it. It is not part of the service you offer (I hope).
Once you've done this, they've got evidence of your wrongdoing and will have you over a barrel in future negotiations.
Stick with online software. There is plenty of really good stuff about, and trying to run things on a Mac will always cause problems.

Don't you hate clients who constantly come up with stupid schemes and then expect you to spend your time explaining why they are stupid.
If you use AccountancyManager it is all built in.
