I’d agree with Glenn and this is how I use it too. Xero and QB simply not up to scratch. I used Payroo fully cloud for a little while but it’s simply not half the product that BrightPay is. Couldn’t recommend BP highly enough really. Hope you get sorted.

I too have had a client using Xero to process the payroll themselves - once they'd made a mess of it I found it very difficult to untangle using Xero. And, at the time (about a year ago) their reports were lacking meaning I found it hard to trace the problem.
In house I use Brightpay. It's simply such good value, easy to use and has all the reporting or exporting functions one would expect.

BrightPay for me too, after having compared them both a couple of years back when AE was being introduced.
Much more modern and up to date than MS. They've been great too - leading the way in making AE automatic from the start.

Another vote for BrightPay under the circumstances. Having compared both MS and BP I think BP has a more modern interface. Very easy to use, support has been brill. I’ve never imported large data sets but I reckon their support would help you out.
Oh, and you’d save a packet over Iris prices I imagine.

Worth keeping in mind that some goods can be zero rated when being sold to a charity. Nots cars. You’d have to register for VAT and carefully do the sums first as already advised above.

Thanks. So I’m not the only one clear as mud on this. I think it comes down to - is it the first quarter starting after 1 April 2019 (making lion right)? Or first VAT period making it 1 Mar 2020?
Not easy to advise, and maintain credibility, is it!

Called Kennet Leasing by any chance?

In QB I cannot display dividends against balance sheet reserves and show them on their own line. Just posting against reserves b/f at the mo. You can however do this on Xero.

Very interesting and helpful Paul, thanks. I'll have a go as suggested. I've been looking for a more centralised system to take over from my spreadsheets.
Thanks too Matrix - I had a quick look but at £39pm Glide is simply too expensive for me as sole-practitioner.
