Was Managing Partner in a small firm of CA's in the City of London until 2001 when I took early retirement partly due to being fed up with commuting and needing a new challenge. Now Payroll Service Manager, Finance Advisor and Network Supervisor for a local disability charity. Have a few private clients Resigned from ICAEW in 2005 and have not regretted it once
I suggest that you ditch Sage and use Moneysoft Payroll Manager instead. Much easier program to use, without any of the 'rolling back' nonsense that Sage uses. RTI is very easy on Payroll Manager.
Agreed

If you are telling me that the person who made the original post and yourself are the same person, then I suggest that you seek professional help for one of the worse cases of Dissociative Identity Disorder that I have ever encountered
Would you give that advice in writing to a client?
"P46 - If a person has never worked for anyone before, when he joins his first job, the new employer will give the employee P46 to complete."
Why not "If a new employee does not produce a Form P45, .............
"P45 - Theses parts contain almost the same information. The Part 1 of P45 will be sent to HMRC by the employer."
I'd be ashamed if I posted that in a professional forum
Last year's P45 is useful for checking the NINO but why use it instead of a P46? It's not compulsory
Scenario 1 - new employee joins 24th May 2011 and gives you a 2010-11 P45 with Code 647L. However he's had another job since 6th April which is his main job. He leaves your employment three months later before HMRC issues a tax code to you because they have more important things to be doing like identifying late P35s for 2010-11
You accept the 2010-11 P45 and apply Code 747L so he ends up underpaying Tax in your employment
I give him a P46 and he ticks Box C - I apply Code BR resulting in him paying the correct Tax
Scenario 2 - new employee joins 26th May and gives you a 2010-11 P45 with Code 647L but he's had another job since 6th April which is his main job - he leaves three months later before HMRC issues a tax code to you
You accept the P45 and apply Code 747L on a Month 1 basis so he ends up underpaying Tax in your employment
I give him a P46 and he ticks Box C and I apply Code BR resulting in him paying the correct Tax
I'm not trying to score points in this discussion but merely applying what to me is common sense
If you prove me wrong, that's not a problem as I'm always willing to learn
Correction to the incorrect advice in the previous post
P46 - required if the new employee does not produce a P45 issued in the current tax year or if they have not worked since 6th April in the tax year. If the employee starts another job in the tax year without leaving and their current employment ceases to be their main job, then a P46 should be completed. In all cases filed online as soon as signed (I keep the P46 on file together with a paper copy of HMRC's email acknowledgement as I'm old fashioned).
P45 to leaver - Parts 1A, 2 and 3 given to employee. Filed online immediately and again I keep paper copy of HMRC's email acknowledgement on file with Part 1
P45 Parts 2 & 3 from joiner - complete and file Part 3 online as soon as entered in your payroll software.
P60 - not part of the original poster's query so why mention it?
The English and grammar in the post are appalling. A pity the poster didn't bother to check it first as it reflects badly on the firm.
So apart from the payslips and the P35, it's better not paying £50?
IMO time is one's most valuable asset and having to do monthly payslips and then completing a P35 yourself means that you must have time on your hands - lucky man!
£50 could save you a lot of time and ensure that it's all correct

Moneysoft - no problems with RTI
We're a charity operating a payroll bureau for disabled people employing carers
So far we've filed about twenty FPS with no problems and instant HMRC email confirmation
I filed four 2012-13 P35s on Saturday and got the email confirmations yesterday
EAS not included in Moneysoft unless you contact them
Can't believe Sage includes EAS as compulsory for all empoyers - it is an unwise man who uses a rock to crush a fly on his forehead
2012-13 P45s no longer accepted by HMRC
How about emailing your boss asking him to refer it to the company's auditors for their opinion?
If he doesn't do it, you're covered and he will be liable if the excretia hits the fan
If he does, it's the auditors' answer that will decide the issue
Not worth being Qualified in a small practice
And of course (pun intended), the cost of CPE/CPD
However, don't automatically rule out PII unless you have deep pockets!

Hang on in there
Managed to get a six figure tax repayment (once in a lifetime) for a client
Two cheques issued 29th April
Client received them beginning of last week
All comes to he who waits

Surprise, surprise ........................................... i
Nearly 100 Payroll clients now having previously struggled with 26 using horrendous Access
Have taught an elderely disabled client employing 3 carers, who'd been doing it manually for years, to use it - she says it's changed her life
It's brilliantly intuitive and the the best software I've used in over 20 years experience of many different types
