When you renew Taxcalc you get a 10% discount each year. In April I paid £ 508.50 plus VAT for SA, partnership and CT. I’ve never felt the need to move away from VT and it works perfectly with Taxcalc. Last November I paid £ 150 plus VAT for VT.

I had a similar problem two years ago. Apart from the accounts problem they managed to lose several documents. Spoke to the local MP. He sent a letter to the Home Office and things started to run very smoothly.

This guy will need a quick answer to future questions. He has to get back to his clients with 4 days.

“However, the best thing my daughter learnt at school was to be an accurate, fast, touch typist. A skill I wish I had, as I make endless mistakes, despite typing every day.”

Despite using computers for many years my typing is slow. The solution for the last few years has been to use dictation software (Dragon Naturally Speaking). Dictating correspondence comes naturally to my generation who were used to having their own secretary who could do shorthand.

Try comparing the trial balance to the accounts. You might need to insert a financial row.

In VT Final Accounts go to the trial balance analyser. Then click on Display Trial Balance. The left hand column shows the number you need.

I’ve not tried it but could you export the employer and employees details to a CSV file. Then copy the current year wage details to an excel file. It should then be relatively easy for the new accountant to create a new payroll file.

I would normally agree that it’s the solicitor’s job. However, last week I had a client whose solicitor stated that he didn’t get involved with stamp duty refunds.

The solution was to download form SDLT 16 and get the client to fill it in and post it to the Birmingham Stamp Duty Office.

You have three months from the sale of the original PR to submit the form. The awkward bit is getting hold of the SDLT Unique Transaction Reference from the solicitor in respect of the stamp duty on the purchase of the second property.

Try a Pilot V5 needlepoint liquid ink rollerball. Have a look at the reviews on Amazon. Apologies, for some reason I can't post the link.

Charity ride

Hi,

Recently made a donation.

Would be grateful for a copy of the engagement document. A PM has been sent with my email address.

Good luck with the fund raising and the ride.

Thanks
