Why can't the accountancy profession accept that change is on its way and embrace it and help make life easier for everyone.
Remember when it was announced that all VAT returns had to be submitted online and the backlash from the accountants, you would have thought that the world was about to end - now imagine life without it?
Paper tax returns was another - imagine going back to manually filling in a return, posting it, trusting the Royal Mail to get it there on time and then waiting for the acceptance to eventually arrive.
No one (except accountants) went into business to do bookkeeping so we as an industry should be encouraging business owners to use the benefits of software and as a by-product being that they are automatically MTD compliant.
I, for one, would sooner make my clients life easier as opposed to advising them to use a spreadsheet because I liked it.
I personally would recommend the integrated everytime, the time you will save (and therefore chargeable hours) will make up for any cost differences.
I love the Iris products. I may be a lone voice on here but they always come up with the goods and their ixbrl work just showed that they lead the way. There are differing offers too so if you are a small practice there will be something for you in there as well.
Project management is the key With all of the resources at their disposal, why could this not have been completed on time? After all the 6th April comes round the same time each year.
As I am involved in implementing IT in our practice, delaying it a month is not an option for us, so why should it be for IR?
It's time they were made accountable and actually hit deadlines.
My answers
Phew - I was panicking a bit having just started informing my clients
On e question about the dates - according to this article (https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/making-tax-digital-reforms-a...) it is 2019 not 2020 for VAT
