Some considerations 1/Is the client using the good name of the accountant and taking a chance of not being discovered re:some illegal practice 2/If you have quality systems in place would this be an exception to this procedures 3/If an unrepresented taxpayer were to submit their own tax returns I would suspect HMRC would carry out theirown aspect enquiries. 4/Does the accountant not deduce information from invoices such as information for analysis, whether the invoice relates to the entity, the date of the invoice, the period of provision of relevant services and subsequently calculation of debtors and creditors. Is the end result inferior ? 5/Do clients use accountants for their superior knowledge? If the client knows better should it just be a case of ".......if you know better,do the job yourself". 6/The accountant is effectively submitting an expense claim. Is this a matter of integrity ? 7/Does this smack of "...the man in the pub " and the latest hearsay scam ? 8/If sometimes one insists on production of invoice and sometimes not is this a case of discrimination. 9/Perhaps it is case of persuasion and many will have seen "All creatures Great and Small" in which grumpy awkward clients are depicted. 10/Bite the bullet-----produce or down the road !!! 11/and just remember the clients ultimate "Get out of gaol card"----MY ACCOUNTANT TOLD ME TO DO THIS !!! 12/Could sampling be employed ?Perhaps a random sample of 50 could be obtained and the reults analsysed to obtain a represenation of the whole population ? 13/Is the client using you as a stooge or frontman ? 14/Is it not custom and practice to carry out a vouch of invoices in the a/c prof. ? 15/Is this the equivalent of turning a blind eye. 16/You may attact similar clients 17/Possibilty of blackmail or at least ".....well you did it last year....." 18/When all the above is considered, why do it ?
P.S. If you leave your details I have got some travelling expenses to claim (last years holiday expenses !!)
