Director’s entitlement to dividends? And I always thought dividends were paid to shareholders.

I suspect I've said this before, but all this discussion reminds me of the client who emailed a member of my team '....and they have you working on a Sunday??'
I was being copied in and couldn't help myself from responding '..no, YOU have her working on a Sunday!'
Having 'retired' and only completing 50 returns this year I just have 1 to finish off.

I have 4 PAYE codes - one each for two small pensions, my SIPP and a directorship which pays me a modest salary. I wanted to receive the first two in full and pay BR on the other two, leaving, after OAP, some allowances to offset my freelance fees. Could I persuade them to do this? No chance. If I, with 52 years' tax experience, can't get HMRC to do things properly, what chance does Joe Bloggs have??

If IT and NIC are to be harmonised how about exempting a percentage of the state pension from tax completely?
Easy to administer - the 10% exemption for overseas pensions has worked well for many years.
I should record a personal interest in this, being a pensioner myself!

Did mine early November (and paid the tax!) but...err.. how do you get 11 months??

Just love Vaughan Blake's post. Having joined the Revenue in 1965 and moved to the profession in 1973 his comments ring so true!
Retired in theory, but a few elderly clients won't let me go until they drop or I drop, whichever comes first!

I couldn't help but smile at 'loyalty to the firm, staying there for over seven years', having retired last year after 42 years with the same firm.
