Well, pleased to see that I'm not alone. Same tardy clients every year and if anything getting worse, still loads to do. They think, correctly for the most part: "it won't take long to do mine" but don't realise another 30 clients are thinking the same thing.
Still, looking on the bright side, what else do you do in January anyway ? More time for sailing and outdoor stuff in the summer, and lots of money comes in too !
Cloud ? I work from home in a rural area. Our broadband went down on Monday morning and has just come back this evening. Fortunately, though, the practice software works without any need to be on line. Other than for actual filing, of course, so here's hoping it doesn't go off again on 31st Jan !
I use Pinacle (sic) software and early on they updated it to include the Class 2. However, the first few returns going in which didn't include Class 2 were simply amended by HMRC.
So personally, I haven't (yet!) encountered any of these problems.
Who is this optimistic gentleman who believes that it will take "only three to four hours" to wean clients onto new systems?
Well, right or wrong, as far as I'm aware but could of course be mistaken, Tony Magaritelli of the ICPA is the only spokesman of a professional body who's actually had anything to say on this matter, so good on yer, Tony ! And he represents mainly unqualified practitioners, I believe, so that doesn't say much for the ICAEW etc.
The benefits of digitisation are readily accepted by the majority of small- and medium-sized organisations.
I remember listening to a discussion about RTI on Radio 4 in the car one day, there was classic remark from an HMRC spokeswoman who said there "would be no problem for small businesses. Why, only yesterday I was talking to the finance director of a small business......." !
The way I saw it, the Crickhowellites would be quite happy to lose any case with HMRC provided the decision applied to the multinationals as well. I'm sure HMRC would argue that it's all a tax dodging exercise and should be disregarded, but then the same should apply to the big boys.
I liked the comment "our waitress pays more tax than Facebook!"
Finished your tax returns have you? Got nothing to do? The poster made a good posting yet you reply with this? Try some gardening or anything other that keeps you from such postings
Despite still having loads of tax returns to do, I'm moved to say that I'm with Rochgood here. I mean, one expects to see BANANA'S in the greengrocer's and STEAK'S in the butcher's, but we are supposedly professionals and ought to exhibit at least a basic grasp of grammar. Yes, exactly ! Our mobile signal's pretty marginal too, some days the phone only works outside or upstairs.

Excellent, well done Tony. But unless I've missed something, why the hell is he always the only one doing the blasting ?

Remember PAYE incentives ?
Who else recalls that we had grants for doing PAYE filing on line when that system started ? Back then we were actually encouraged, not bludgeoned.
Optimistic gentleman ?

Small business definition ?
