Accounting Web used to have an opportunities section where such notices could be made. There was often details given about small blocks of fees for sale. This section fell by the wayside about 5 years ago or maybe longer when the site was "updated". I preferred the old website!
Whilst Covid is not nice to get (fortunately I have avoided it) and I too know two who have died from it, what I find so annoying is the constant "news" we are bombarded with. OVER 450 PEOPLE DIE EACH DAY FROM CANCER (2017). Why isn't this mentioned every day on the news?
I applied to HSBC for a BBL in April and have not heard from them other than an automated reply. No reply to my telephone calls. I have since taken a CBILS loan from Funding Circle that took about 3 days to process and put £80,000 in my bank.
I have a similar case at the moment. Client is owed over £4k. He is suicidal about this and we know it will come through sometime ...... I hope so, as I have advanced him a £1k amount from my office bank account! Am I stupid?
I had 100 ordinary shares issued - 80 to me (Chartered) and 20 to my wife (not qualified). I then issued 100 A shares non voting to my wife. As I had 80 of the issued shares and my wife had 120, I was in breach of ICAEW rules, even though I had 80% of the votes and so had control. The solution was to increase the Ordinary shares issued to 500. I then had 400, my wife 100 plus 100 A shares. So I had 400 shares and my wife had 200. I had more than 50%!
i am thinking about offering QBO free to clients. also had a meeting with Sage about Sage One. Sage is £5 a month for the Accounting version - same as QBO, but the Sage One Starter version is just £1 a month. The Sage One Starter version appears to be fine for 'simple' clients who just want a cash book. i would be interested to find out what others think.
Data can be imported into Iris (using the Iris Connector being introduced this month) to prepare the final accounts so I would save at least £60 a year in summarising the clients records and posting to Iris
My answers
Do you have one? I can only recall one email this year (11.8.2023) from Iris telling me my AM has changed, but no contact since. Awful service!

Why not tell her she will have to pay CGT on one third of the gain on the house, she may think again?

perhaps not, but there are other reasons for the incorporation
