withdrawal at 55
Very interesting point. I think that there are rules that prevent recycling although I have not seen it operate in practice. In outline I think that you are asking whether an individual can say put 8k into a pension and as a BR taxpayer have this grossed up to 10k and then withdraw 2.5k tax free and (7.5k*0.8)=6k ie a total of £8.5k. I don't know the answer but if it looks too good to be true....

Peter, I think that you are being a little harsh on TAA. I was a franchisee and agree with all First Tab's comments. It is not for everyone; what is? However, it can and does work for some. Can everyone just agree to disagree?

There are about 180 TAA franchisees which is the same as in 2004 but not the same franchisees. TAA seems good for start ups but adds less value as the business gets more experience. The question is; how much to pay for that start up advice bearing in mind that it is a 5 year fee commitment with minimum, escalating, turnover levels in addition to the initial fee. Given that AWeb is free........

Were there monthly management meetings where the financials were presented? Did not cost centre managers ever query expenditure. I suspect that more than just a new accountant is required in that organisation.

Point 3 is excellent. The
Point 3 is excellent. The key thing to remember is that the database is different from the final report. Applying a pivot to a good database makes a massive difference.

I would think that a simplification of the tax regime would be far more beneficial to SME owners.

Look in the small ads in local papers and magazines where these businesses advertise. note that money can be tight in this sector.

I found regular attendance at business clubs generated leads. I also had a telemarketing agency and put ads in news agents. Not everyone took up my offer but there is no substitute for getting in front of real prospects. Biggest mistake was being too cheap to start with and the second biggest mistake was to stop marketing once I had some clients!!
