I'm afraid like alot of Zealots the author is woefully misinformed.
There is a plethora of research now that suggests if not proves that a meat based diet is much healthier for you than a vegan or plant based diet.
The killers are sugar, refined carbohydrates and especially highly processed foods of which most vegan alternatives have.
Meat (especially beef) has the highest density of ALL essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals of all foods.
Maybe people eat too much meat and certainly anything that contains nitrates such as bacon and sausages should be avoided, but eating some meat is far healthier than eating none. And in the third world where people have issues getting all the nutrients they require it is essential.
You cannot buck evolution which fanatics try and do. We are omnivores and we have evolved this way for millions of year, we have canine teeth so our bodies are used to eating a variety of foods including meat, and our immune systems are often deficient when we do not have any.
So I say to the author you can be vegan if you want but do not try and impose what I regard as completely unreasonable and unscientific views on any one else
The whole thing is just unbelievable! It is no wonder most of us don't trust politicians anymore. I think people think the honours system, which seems to me just gongs for mates and people who move in the right circles, is a farce!
Utter contempt for 'taxpayers' is my view of the civil service and the majority of the political class
If those at the top of HMRC and the MP's that are supposed to be overseeing them (which would be the treasury) cannot provide even a basic 'fit for purpose' service, there needs to be different people in charge.
How much longer do taxpayers in this country have to accept the highest tax burden since WWII and yet completely substandard public services which includes HMRC
To my mind it doesn't matter how you slice and dice tax. It is still too much with a bloated civil service.
This is the elephant in the room, not tinkering around with labels
The overall burden is too much. No doubt the regime should be simplified, but the biggest issue is public spending, efficiency and waste not rearranging the deckchairs on the titanic!
Sorry Richard, but I do think it important that people with 'mental health' issues seek advice from trained professionals in this area
Not sure that 'not thinking' about what to wear, eating ready meals (very unhealthy) and having personal assistants to do the gardening and chores are a way of avoiding burnout.
I especially have an issue with not cooking a meal for yourself and family. So what is the author advocating here?
"But what if you just don’t have the time or energy to be whipping up wholesome dishes in your kitchen? Living off processed food or takeout is less than ideal, but so is skipping meals"
Make time! You and your family's health is far more important than some self-imposed deadline.
I have always found gardening very therapeutic (not so much cleaning though). But my point is you need to spend more time 'out' of your business not in it.
The point of the article appears to me to advocate freeing up time to spend more time in the business, or am I reading it wrong?
My advice is the same if you are feeling excessively stressed or 'burnt out' seek professional help
I think these sorts of articles should be written by a trained 'psychotherapist or 'psychiatrist'
If you are depressed or are having any 'mental health issues' please talk to a professional.
I would say, but this is a personal opinion, if you are feeling very stressed or 'burnt out' because you have to fill out a few tax returns by the deadline, this should not really in normal circumstances be causing you particular grief.
We all have different levels of resilience and there is a danger people talk themselves into being stressed.
Make sure you have a life and activities outside of work (very important), and don't take yourself or your work too seriously!
But seek professional help if it is all getting too much!
I have given up complaining it's just not worth it anymore. Nothing will ever change in the civil service until government has the power to sack people and holds them accountable
This country is seriously deteriorating and it doesn't have to that's the sad thing
Our political class are just not up to the job - and that is probably 80 - 90% of them

"arranging the deckchairs when the titanic is sinking"
The biggest issue is government spending and lack of growth (and I mean GDP per head NOT GDP overall)
There are so many structural issues to solve that I fear it will be a generation before anything changes
Tinkering around with rates here and there wont make a blind bit of difference, but I agree with the sentiment of simplifying taxes
The whole thing is just unbelievable! It is no wonder most of us don't trust politicians anymore. I think people think the honours system, which seems to me just gongs for mates and people who move in the right circles, is a farce!

As far as I am concerned state spending as well as taxes need to be reduced NOT increased.
The economy needs to grow and investment needs to be encouraged.
Governments have proved themselves not to be wise spenders of your money so the less they have the better.
There has always been a tendency that the more money you give to government the more they waste it.
Small state low taxes in my view, so whilst I agree the system needs simplification the overall burden needs to come down.
I am always astounded and disappointed with how much tax we pay in this country and how little we get in public services for it.

When will this country get a grip of anything!! Our politicians constantly let us down!!
But don't worry you still have to contribute a large proportion of your earnings to the treasury so that it can throw it away on god knows what!!
