lack of micro-entity experience
I haven't yet read the bio but my concern would be the lack of micro-entity experience. Does HMRC have anyone on their panels/in their focus groups who can speak with any authority about how really small businesses work?
HMRC seem to think it's the digital/techy side which is an issue - it's not. No professional accountant is going to say the MTD agenda is not a sensible idea. It's the quality of the data which will be uploaded that will be the issue. They clearly have very little understanding of the work involved to make many clients' records half-way sensible - let alone all the accounting adjustments needed to provide a figure on which tax is eventually paid.
Don't they understand that if accountants (who stand to benefit from increased fees for those clients who don't try to 'go it alone') are saying this will not work as it stands, they need to look at it again?
