Great you are using the software. It sounds like we need to work with you to ensure you are using all of the features to their full potential.
For the readers out there, I think it's worth mentioning that AM should be saving at least one hour per client, per annum through the automatic chasing of clients for information and automated reminders.
If you use the onboarding system with proposals and letters of engagement then you'd be saving even more time (not to mention the automatically generated tasklist/workflow for each staff member).
An accountant's hourly rate might range from say, between £100 -£250, therefore, as an example, a practice of 5 staff (standard AM cost - £195 +VAT) amounts to no-more than a couple of hours of time for that month.
Therefore, AccountancyManager should be a saving rather than an expense and if it's not, we would need to work with you to ensure it is.

We have just released Digital AML checks through AccountancyManager. We also have a built-in AML risk assessment form for each of your clients.
The digital AML checks replace the need to request photo and address ID from your clients.
To save even more time, you can use the client onboarding feature which sends out proposals and letter of engagements as well which are ICAEW compliant.
Individual AML checks are charged at £3.75 or you can buy in bulk to reduce the cost £1.75 per check.

Although this post is now a little old (it still appears to be relevant and regularly searched for). I'd like to mention a new solution to the market, called AccountancyManager and recently voted #1 practice management software by accountants in the UK (award presented by AccountingWEB).

Anything that automates a tedious process, as you called it, has got to be worth it surely? You have to find the value in it yourself but if you waste an hour per client on admin when you could do something chargeable with that time...
Exactly this. The small cost involved for a solution like AM is tiny compared with the time saved.
Automatic proposals and LOEs, client details, record requesting, approvals, tax payment reminders, part-records received chasing and staff task lists - these are just some of the unnecessary administration chores that we've automated. The goal for any accountant is to maximise chargeable time during working hours.

Great to hear you're looking at AccountancyManager.
We provide a default LOE for free, but you can edit each section and customise as required. The sections in the LOE are matched to the services required by the client, so only the relevant sections are shown. The LOE is then e-signed by the client as part of the registration process.

The document portal can easily be used for uploading documents and sharing them through the client portal.
With GDPR on the horizon, using a software which is compliant for sharing documents is now essential - AccountancyManager is currently undergoing a GDPR audit to ensure all processes are compliant.
As part of this audit we are also being provided with a set of terms for our users to provide to their clients who use the portal.
This ensures the whole process is compliant and allows you to use the e-signing facility which is court-admissable if required.
The on-boarding process is very slick, manages your prospects, allows you to create custom LoEs and auto-generates a proposal email.
The proposal email contains a link which enables your prospect to sign up to your services by signing your terms and letter of engagement.
If they want to, they can then go on and create a portal to complete additional registration information like the crucial UTR, NI number or Companies House Auth codes. Any information entered is imported into the Client File in AM saving you re-entering this data.
From the portal they can then share documents with you, update their details or e-sign documents as required.
AM now automatically reminds your clients by email when approval is outstanding for a particular task, so using the portal for e-signatures is a real benefit.
