Sorry. I logged in on some one else’s computer and didn’t think about it!
The shares were part of an employee share incentive scheme. No dividends but some worthwhile capital gains.
Richard. Thank you.
There was never a notice to file issued. The client has not filed or needed to file a return since 2015. They are wholly PAYE, but sold some shares and realised a taxable gain in 20/21.
This happened during covid and a few weeks before his wife had a baby at 28 weeks. This was followed by about 8 weeks in intensive care and several months of close monitoring of the baby.
That is why the CGT issue fell off the radar.
He is appealing.
and me!
I sent 4 repayment claims for minor beneficiaries of a trust - all in the same envelope. I chased by letter and 2 were paid, I chased agan by letter and a third one was paid. I have chased again by letter and on the phone and I am still waiting.
The outstanding one ie £185 or so!
I use a speakerphone too.
But I know that when I get to speak to someone I will need to refer to several documents and if I do too much other stuff they will get lost on the screen.
I did eventually get through, and the person I spoke to was extremely helpful.
And certainly not an idiot. Very far from it.
He wasn't able to deal with the problem but he took a lot of details and has said that someone will call me back. He was careful not to promise a timescale.
We will see.
A company is called dormant by Companies House if it’s had no ‘significant’ transactions in the financial year. If it has had sales of 300k over 2 years or so it is not dormant.
If it has filed accounts at Companies House stating it is dormant when it has had sales of 300k those accounts are incorrect.
If the company is really owed 6k there will be a debtor in the balance sheet - and something on the other side.
There may not be fraud but there is something very odd and probably not right.
HMRC may well be interested.
It isn’t about a charity that is trading insolvently
It isn’t actually about a charity.
It is about an organisation that is structured with an MD who runs it and a board wholly of non execs.
My answers
