I have been mainly working on writing the interfaces into Open Banking (to enable the download of bank statements into accounting software). From that perspective working from home is not that much of an issue although communication with my technical assistant is harder.
People may be interested in hear that I have had a number of emails sent from HMRC between 7am and 8am. Clearly their people (on the tech side) who are working from home are starting probably at the time their commute would start.
I have had to go to my office twice a day to spray the door handles. I have commercial tenants who are a domiciliary care organisation (ie key workers) and all my staff otherwise are working from home hence I am the man with the Dettol. My office is in the same suburb of Birmingham so it takes a short time to get there.

The loans are effectively running through QE. The grants and reductions in cash tax revenues will need funding through increased borrowing.

I know how the system works, but am no longer on the inside on any of these things.

The difficulty in devising a system of support (for anything) is to simplify the assessment process. Having a bung to everyone who claims Small Business Rate Relief is easy to operate and a rapid implementation can occur.
I am not a government supporter, but I would emphasise that the practicalities in operating any system drive its design.

I use Chrome remote desktop within my organisation. However, I use the remote access function which enables access at any time. You may wish to use the support option. I have not tried that myself.
For supporting clients I use windows remote support which works well between windows machines.

I think I first got electronic statements in the 90s. It may have been the 80s. I did put the first bank on the net in May 1995. (We (STB and myself) beat Wells Fargo by a day).
The thing about open banking is that it should apply to all uk banks.

I dont know, but it does not appear that open banking is live in Canada yet.

That's an interesting point. I haven't got into the details of this yet. There are always questions as to whether this is a failure of the design of the project, failure of implementation by software house or failure of implementation by bank.
Personally I don't think systems should allow this. They should carry forward the transactions and ensure that the bank statement from open banking balances with the bank statement at the bank.
This may not be possible because of design flaws in open banking, but as I said I have not yet got into the details.

Which raises an interesting question as to what extent Open Banking can be used to obtain reliable bank statements in an electronic form. I have been having discussions with the FCA about this for quite a while, but more recently they appear to be more open to this suggestion than they were 9 months ago.
I will keep people in touch.

It sounds like a situation which most MPs should be able to get sorted.
