Not a tirade-Simply my experience of being an Accountant in Practice in the UK today? Maybe you do not have the dubious pleasure of dealing with these people?
Is anyone surprised that an organisation which uses bully-boy tactics, equates legitimate tax avoidance with evasion and uses retrospective legislation in contravention to the Human Rights Act, is silent about software problems which are advantageous to it? I think it is time "Carnmores" had a grasp of the reality of the current UK tax system!
Actually was speaking to a Civil Servant the other day about holidays-He informed me that he still had "2 weeks sick days" to take this year! Sums it up really! They live in a different world to the rest of us in the private sector.
The hypocrisy of Taylor takes my breath away. The same man who led Scion's sales force pushing their Film Partnerships and presenting fairy-tale performance figures now wants to sue the poor Advisers who believed him! You couldn't make it up!
Been there, done that, didn't get the T-Shirt! Have never been involved in a Film Partnership that actually declared a profit! Apparently Mr Bean's holiday which took over $250m worldwide made a loss! (According to the Promoters!)
Couldn't agree more with comments of Red1960. My former Practice supported a leading Film Partnership Promoter based in London for a number of years. We relied heavily on the honesty of one of the Directors. Of course none of his "guarantees" came to fruition which effectively destroyed my Firms' reputation. To add to the misery this former Promoter of the Schemes has now joined a Company suing IFA's and Accountants for promoting them in the first place! How the man sleeps in his bed at night is beyond me.
COMPENSATION What about dragging HMRC kicking and screaming inti the real commercial world by demanding compensation for every frivolous enquiry issued with the sole intention to delay tax repayments (to save their empty coffers). This deliberate policy and subsequent slow motion administration would be stopped if the Taxpayer had the right to claim the real opportunity loss from not having access to these funds. Think of the time value of money plus compound interest to start with! All in favour of a petition to Number 10 but do you seriously think the present incumbent would listen?
Sage sales growth The main reason for the slowdown in Sage sales growth is that loyal resellers like ourselves who have trained internal staff to provide a professional after sales service find themselves continually competing with Sage's own Direct Salesforce! My own Company lost all trust in Sage when a few years ago we were told that we could no longer support our payroll clients-All of whom had been sold Sage by ourselves and that all on-going support would be taken over by Sage directly. In my books this is little short of corporate theft!
