I would agree with a lot of the comments but having recently taken on a letting agent client, I checked with HMRC relating to charging vat on property repairs organised for landlords. The Letting Agent does not add anything to charges and most of the contractors are not vat registered but HMRC have indicated that since the Letting Agent organised the work, this must be included in their turnover and vat must be charged on the repair
I have actually used Andica for SA and Partnership returns for several years because at the time I started, it was cheap. In the last year they have changed the reports to look like HMRC which is much better than previous where you got different reports for PAYE, SA, Tax etc. I find the software easy to use and the the tax calculation at the end is very good and easy to read for clients although separate from the main return. Having said that, I agree the after sales support service leaves a lot to be desired, bordering on being totally rude. I had problems with my computer a few years back and had to ask for a new activation code to reinstall the software and unfortunately my IT engineer had to reload Windows a couple of times which meant asking for another couple of activation codes - at which time I was told 'you had better get your computer fixed because we are not giving you any more codes' they also disconnected the service saying I had it on two computers because I had installed a new hard drive. By this time I was used to the software so continued to use it and fortunately they have made a few improvements and I have thankfully had no more issues. Sorry but on the licence issue of a previous reader I would say that this is based more on an annual subscription for 100 licences and not a cumulative total
I have used Payroll Manager 100 for the past 11 years and find it very easy to use. This seemed to be one of the few systems at an affordable price which dealt with PAYE and CIS when I started using it and I have never had any reason to go looking for an alternative. Single or multiple payslips can be printed at any time, reports are good and a whole year's transaction can be checked at a glance for a single employee. Year end and P11D etc is a breeze. I mainly use Sage for all of my clients accounts but would never dream of changing the payroll over - Very good value for money
