A note for managers and employers: I have quit two jobs because the people I worked with hated their jobs and made the workplaces miserable. No one wants to spend 8+ hours a day with people who hate being there.
The banks I've worked with don't have APIs yet, so I have to download the statements and upload them to accounting systems manually. Once APIs are the norm, we will never think about statements; the data will just show up in the accounting system on schedule, with no action from a person.
You've clearly been reading WaitButWhy. Thank you for writing about this topic. I have been trying to get someone at ACCA to take it seriously. It is very important for the employees, rather than the owners and partners, to take ownership and control of automation. If we have a solid grasp of the AI agents and bots being developed, and we drive a "Bring Your Own Agent" workplace culture, employees can do more and better work in far less time. We can push back against the arbitrary 40-hour work week, work fewer hours to produce better work, and share in the leisure time and quality of life this produces. If we wait for employers to implement AI and bots on a broad scale, we will end up with half the workforce unemployed and the other half continuing to struggle to balance life and work.
