"Is it fair? Your clients have been receiving a service for years with no charge. How do you think these guys fund their business?"
Not exactly! The pension fund take a % of the contributions and I would think that this is substantial given the amount of employers which have signed their employees up to this scheme. Why on earth would Smart Pension run this pension with out any gain. They are just being greedy in my eyes. Someone at the top wants a huge pay rise, I doubt these fees will go towards pay rises for the actual workers of the scheme!
Cloud would suit our totally remote working office but I know there are work around systems for desktop software. We used Moneysoft and was disappointed when we had to leave the software due to the number of registered subcontractors. Do you have a software suggestion?
I see you never got a response to this question! I am an accountant but alos a in house manager for my sons business and I have started using Staffology which seemed fine when I tested it but I now find lots of issues on the reporting side and just wondered if you ever found a suitable cloud software solution?
I have moved to Taxfile recently and have not tried the Accounts side yet but love the tax return software. I was so disappointed to see IRIS has taken over, I agree with NH that it will only be a matter of time before we see price hikes.
I will have a look at Quickbooks again. I did love the desktop version when compared to other desktop software but I tried the online version quite early on and wasn't impressed at the time but like you say they most likely have improved it since I tried it.
HMRC have admitted there is a problem they are working on
I have completed an online authority, code activated and if I call HMRC they agree I am activated as agent but I can't see the client via my agent login list. I wonder if this is also affecting updating details. I am going to post about this separately as I wasted loads of time calling as my client needs a tax year overview urgently, its anoying that their staff are not updated with any problems so they can tell you immediately and save us time calling and waiting on their phone lines!
Thanks Mark that's interesting, although I wont want to wait on the phone line for 40 minutes! Perhaps I will wait for all the penalty letters to come in and then make one phone call to deal with them all. Un-chargeable time of course, flipping fuming!
I have just reported an error on the online form. I completed it right to the end but the review and print option did not work. Anyone else have this problem?
A cessation payroll was also submitted in June 2013 and FPS return has been requested for 5 December. I am dreading the senario of penalties from April 2014! HMRC are not ready!

CIS 305
I have just reported an error on the online form. I completed it right to the end but the review and print option did not work. Anyone else have this problem?
Still waiting for CIS refunds requested in April 2014
There is another link to the supposed new timelines at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cis/claimrepayments.pdf.
I don't suppose there is a direct telephone number to call, let me know if yes. I don't want to wait on HMRC's phonelines for a half hour or more.
Cessation payroll also not noted!
