When I was 16 it was my dream to be a West End star so I didn't pay much attention in school and didn't try in academic exams. I left school and started Theatre school immediately. When I turned 18 I met my husband and made what may seem a rash decision, to abandon a career in performing arts. (Later I realised that this decision actually turned out to be the best decision in my life, as I now know that a performers life is definately not what I want and that my fellow students have still not "made it") Upon leaving theatre school I was lost with no idea of what I wanted to do with my life and what career path I wanted to take. Looking back I should have got advice at this point however I didn't and got my current job in small letting agents and construction company. After working for the company for 2 years I realised that I enjoyed working with the accounts more than anything and that is when I started on my accountancy journey. I started studying towards my AAT in March 2008 and new instantly that this is what I want to do. I have passed all my exams first time and have just returned to college to start the Technician level after a 6 month break and I am hoping that I will pass these exams first time to. I am particularly interested in working in practice and need to find a voluntary position for 2 days a week for 6 months to build up my experience. I would love to be working in auditing or forensic accounting. So that’s my accountancy journey so far hopefully I’ll be adding much more in the future.
