For a small amount of money like this, I would write a note on file to justify the expense and your scrutiny to ensure it's fair against other options e.g. a third party rental. Then, I'd process it as an expense claim (as you might with mileage). Otherwise, if you treated them as a supplier, the income would, in their hands, presumably be covered by the £1,000 hobby allowance.

FYI we have a clause in our engagement letters allowing us to change a registered office address to the client's last known address in some specific circumstances.

I once helped tidy up a company after the owner died, and discovered a PAYE fraud. The owner / director had paid all his workers and given them P60s etc but had not made any returns to HMRC. On the advice of the insolvency practitioner, I re-ran all the payrolls and filed with HMRC the details of what the employees had been paid. This recognised the company's PAYE liability and recorded the NIC credits for the workers, i.e. put them where they should have been, and where they had thought they were.

Where would we be if artists could not seek inspiration beyond walking distance?

I'd suggest understanding more about the business - his or her art, and how it sells, and then about the trip, and check that there is no duality. Even look at the budget for the trip and what they plan to do, at the end of the day you will need to take a judgement.

Yes. I got loads of good candidates from a posting on Accounting web. It might have helped that I offered flexible working form home (our systems are cloud based) but I saw four people that I happily would have hired and my recruit is still with me and it is working very well, several years now.

Hiring - suggestions?

I agree they are food etc but as for the recipe question, I suggest pumpkin soup (though pumpkin in casserole, curry or pie also very nice), and I always roast the seeds with a bit of salt on as they make a lovely snack.

Happy Friday

It's just too complicated. If we could just undo everything from the last 6 years we'd be in a much more sensible place. That is back to when I did my exams and started my practice, not a political point. In 6 years the legislation has gone from 5 to 9 volumes, and now we seem to be going to have 3 budgets this year...
