Thank you for your responses, I appreciate your comments.
12Pay is cutting off eligibility to ShPP under the maternity pay rules, whereas the very nature of ShPP allows these rules more flexibility. Sage has an override facility to extend the number of weeks to allow for this.
We need to make further payments to our clients employee but if we make a manual adjustment it will be incorrectly reported in RTI. We are hoping that HMRC might be able to give us a work around.
We transferred most of our payrolls to Brightpay in April 2021 but still also use Sage and 12Pay and can therefore appreciate the differences. Hopefully this client will now agree to move to Brightpay but we don't feel that it can solve the issue in retrospect. Maybe it would have been possible had we moved when the issue arose but it is now three payroll runs later.
As Paul Crowley says, the support used to be superb but it is now almost non-existent.
I've been using Sage for a similar amount of time and used to be it's greatest advocate but sadly it's just not the case any more. I have to admit that I'm not sure there's anything better in the accounts software though.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Amazingly Sage have just offered a small amount of compensation in relation to the payroll problem, which I expect my client will accept but I imagine we will still go ahead with moving to Moneysoft in April.
Sadly it looks as if we will need to continue with Sage Accounts for the time being .
Had issues with licence renewal earlier in the year, which was eventually sorted for current year but will be an ongoing issue as our account manager left before fully resolved.........and nobody told us that he had left.
Maybe what will seem a very small problem but the recurring entries returned an error yesterday where the monthly payment dates changed correctly for all but one journal (30/09 to 30/10, rather than 31/10) which then meant the journals did not balance. Not an obvious thing to happen, so checked every journal entry for values before eventually finding that the system itself had hiccupped!
Maybe I'm just really fed up with the Sage team's attitude nowadays, when they used to be so helpful but no longer seem to care.
I have had horrendous issues with Sage payroll recently, when a bad automatic update was released but withdrawn after 2 hours. There was no notification and nothing on their website to alert anyone whose software had updated. My client found it impossible to get through to Sage and eventually approached me after weeks of trying to resolve the problem they had. I spent hours attempting to contact Sage and it has taken a lot of effort to put things right, which my client wanted Sage to pay for. I was told my client should not have requested assistance from me and should have used their own support package to resolve the issue.
If a similar problem were to occur with Sage Accounts, it could wreak havoc. As I have also been experiencing several problems with their MTD module, I think that now might be a good time to change.
I am grateful for all of the responses but it does seem that VT will not avail me of the processes I require, so........
If I can find a way past the IT issues, what would be the best recommendation please?

No, chickens have definitely hatched! Overpayment is now showing and repayment requested!
Sorry about that. I just didn't want people wasting their time but I will remember if it should happen again....although hopefully it won't!
Thank you. Your comments are really useful.

Yes, transferring data is the biggest issue.
