We rec'd notification that a client was being moved to MTD early this week effective from today 13th Aug and the DD would be cancelled and required setting up again.
Brilliant timing as their next Vat rtn is due by 7/9
Fore warned client and today client is now MTD and guess what? The DD is showing active contrary to what we had previously understood would be the case
Who knows what is going on, certainly not HMRC!
Given earlier replies above I'll keep an eye on it in case the DD disappears

We are in a similar position to others below, my wife and I are already 66 and beyond and were looking to reduce down our work load. She, alongwith a part-time employee do book-keeping and payroll and myself accounts and tax.
We need to sit down and review how best to manage this before 6/4/24 making sure no 5/4 year ends to give us the extra year!
In fairness it probably hasn't changed our planning just helped us to focus on it more. More urgency
PS: Just catching up on my reading material and read y/e 31/3 doesn't now give us an extra yr. Focus tightens to 6/4/23

I also find cloud base system much slower to input the data into. Whilt not a huge fan of Sage it is out main book-keeping package for those clients we do the books for. Desktop based inputting invoices in batch mode can be quickly done whilst for the cloud systems some of our clients use [Sage and QB] it is screen based and much slower. The clients pull the data in but then generally make a mess of the allocations and Vat.
At lot of time is spent educating, re-educating and educating again only surpassed by the corrections we have to make each qtr before finalising their vat return.

We used Sage then moved to Iris but have been using Moneysoft for years. My wife uses it for a variety of client's payrolls, weekly, fortnightly, monthly. Salaried, variable hours.
We also manged to deal with bringing in EA part way through the year
It at least does all we require without a fuss

I use Absolute Tax. When I discovered 'fetch' for this latest tax season I tried it several times but gave it up as too much like hardwork having to re-enter codes and proof I am who I say I am etc etc only for it retrieve some info and twice absolutely nothing!
A great idea but not fit for purpose as yet

We switched to MoneySoft from Iris 5+ yrs ago and run a mix of payrolls, simply mthly salaries thru to weekly variable hrs, works well.
Also do P11d's in it
And found away of switching on EA this year by modifying the payment table to avoid claiming EA when Er's had been recovered thru CJRS

No doubt of little comfort but my wife could have written your posting except may be I'm a little more involved in help her thru the maze. Just come off the latest A/web webinar on CRJS and I have to say not an easy one to follow and will be rewatching later.
You can only do your best and if challenged if you can show the logic of your workings and it makes sense then my understanding is you shd be alright

We've been using Absolute Accounting suite since day 1, works well for us and support is second to none. Headed up by Tim Good and Giles Mooney.
Worth a look and there are additional tax planning tools available too
