Sorry, but I must be missing something here. For payments over £30 most of us (consumers and businesses) tend to use a debit or credit card; the card acts as the token and the pin is something the customer knows - 2 out of 3!
Well, HMRC only have themselves to blame. It is not like they couldn't have tested the changes internally before exposing the whole of the public sector. If HMRC don't get the corrections needed to their on-line self assessment return and its calculations as promised by October, they are going to have even more problems as people like me demand the repayment of tax that has been due since the start of this financial year.
Well, I have been holding off for a fix applied and I have just been told by HMRC to submit my personal on-line self-assessment despite the errors in the computation and give them a call in 3 days! What joy.....

If the grant is to be counted as taxable income, does it also mean that it counts towards the VAT threshold of £85,000?
