Yep, what goes around comes around.....
bit like "simple assessment" back to the days of issuing assessments and appeals.
On this basis a self assessment system will be introduced in about 20 years time. :D

In my crystal ball I see that under MTD HMRC will introduce reporting of close company dividends at time paid, so they can update the individuals DTA with them and save any inputting.
If it is not reported at the time it is not a dividend....
Backdating dividend issues gone. ?

We have seen a PAYE refund to a client who is under SA, HMRC said that his code was not uplifted for PA.
As well the issue of the client being in SA so HMRC should not issue assessments I also got concerned that when the TR is prepared the P60 will be entered as per the paper form and no one will pick up that actually a repayment has been made.
HMRC should correct that once filed but as mentioned above can make is agents look bad.
If in SA HMRC should leave the client alone, as was always in the past.

As mentioned above HMRC guidance states in one place it covers telephone and in another it doesn't.
Personally as I have it in black and white it doesn't I am claiming the additional phone/internet costs as well as the 'fixed' expenses; and it makes sense it only covers 'running' costs of heat/light as that is likely to be minimal whereas a telephone could be easily be near on 100% business.
These simplified expenses are useful for those doing a bit of consultancy, etc on the side at home who don't want to go down the road of keeping detailed records.

Another One issue here is when you have a P45 and no P60. My staff have tried to get the NIC figures for UEL, etc and no one in HMRC seems to have them so it is nigh on impossible to work out if there should be "deferment" and C4 NIC calculated at 2%, unless of course the employment income is well below the limits.
Also in your case what did you do with Class 2 NIC? Did you put nil (as paid enough Class 1 NIC)?
When the Tax Return is filed I, for one, would be very interested in what happens. Are any of the NIC figures amended, do HMRC accept it?

Not sure if you can see this http://www.accountancyage.com/2016/05/12/digital-tax-consultation-to-be-...
Read it but can not find an actual HMRC/treasury link.

I see the MTD consultation is now put back until after the EU referendum, another delay. Never be ready on time at this rate.

This, and the Class 2 NIC boxes, are a mess and HMRC are currently showing liabilities that are not due.
I get reports from my team that the helpline are not sure what is happening either.
We tried to get some NIC figures for Class 1 earnings as P45 case not P60; SA helpline do not deal with NIC so can't help. NIC helpline said they could give class 1 PAID but they don't have the LEL/PT, etc numbers... which makes me wonder who does....!
Ought to change to P45s to include NIC figures, but who to approach to suggest this?
Class 2 abolished and NIC put on a cumulative basis (as per OTS) can't come quick enough in my view.

The second option
is the right one, assuming the BRB will be £32.
